FES W25 – Annette Wilson – Know Yourself, Know Each Other: Building Bridges Between Generations

Annette Evans Wilson spent 30 years as an English teacher in a gang-infested high school, inspiring her students to believe in themselves. She founded the YOU Life Skills and Leadership Educational Foundation after retiring to continue teaching youth about self-awareness, empathy, and service. Her mantra “maybe I can’t, but I will” empowered her students to defy expectations. She offers coaching services to help teenagers, young adults, parents, and teachers recognize the best in themselves and others, nurturing a new generation of leaders who can hold on to their own identity and values while respecting the identity and values of others. By spreading her ideas about “teenitude,” Annette teaches that teens not only don’t have attitude but are eager to develop into individuals who can become participating members of society.
